CHICKEN IN COCONUT

spent yesterday
and tomorrow.

with ideas for company.

today -

life throbs in the toast.
it gurgles in soap bubbles.
is satiated
with water, like my ferns.

sucks salt with the chicken in coconut.
sips on tea, is intoxicated by coffee.
is a date with MS' Suprabhatam.
pencil marks on paper
calamine dots on face
scratches on the CD.
a burnt tongue
soothed feet
aching knee
rested eye.

a lonestar scorches the sacred sky -
it mingles with the merry mist.
and my words.

I am alive.

A MILLION DESIRES

a million desires:
A million more such as these.

against the lush landscape
of my imagination,
and being.

deserts i will stray onto,
lose myself, once and again -
rivers will welcome my thirst.

the sun shall soak the rain;
and hail will burn to golden rust .

a sleight of sight;
colour shall turn a vibrant sepia,
black into glorious grey,
then white.
red, my love, will remain.

songs i scorned are now mine;
mine are now memories -
to dust and polish,
and give life,
if i please.

past perfect, in its time,
the future is not promised to be mine:
Now, in you i dwell.

A million desires beckon.
