WINTER WONDERLAND

Sultry haze, give way -
the weather gods are changing guard.
Herald the deity of warmth, once removed.

Bitter?
So is marmalade -
even the toast took its while.

A familiar bend will stray onto your path:
Take a drag, watch it mingle with the mist -
pilgrim from the past, say merci!

There are corners to turn -
streets await, unexplored.
Brand new, faceless; yours to christen.

Winter child,
wine means Red -
It always will.

LOST IN TRANSLATION

Remember when?
No, I do not.
But of course, you must!

Who, when, where, what?
If it does not linger, it must not matter.
Heck no, all ghosts must be given life!

Where's our little girl?
You let her go.
That, my dear, is a joke!

We've grown.
Apart.

BETWIXT

On a wing and bravado,
my own mistress;
unfettered,
I lorded over my oyster.

Then arrived the majestic void,
filled, gloriously, but only a while.
A premature birth of being -
made, wrecked, and again.

A wisp,
once caught,
forever sought.

Company once sustained,
solitude is far more charming.
The shell shorn, I stand naked;
tried on a few robes, none quite fit.

My size is strange.
